IMPORTANT
INFORMATION ON HOUSING FUNDS FOR EMANCIPATED FOSTER YOUTH
Effective
immediately, there is funding available to assist ILP eligible emancipated
foster youth with their housing needs.
The Department of
Children and Family Services (DCFS) Emancipation Services Division’s “Room
& Board” project will provide assistance to emancipated foster
youth, ages 18 up to 21 years. This
will include assistance such as 1st month and deposit, up to
six-month rent assistance, food certificates, and other support necessary
to assist the youth in his/her plans to live a productive and independent
life.
If you have youth
with emergent and non-emergent unmet housing needs they can be referred to
their ILP Coordinators (DCFS & Probation) and ARC Coordinators.
